Care Givers too have life ,self care is as important as others

Health is an important factor in life . Which one cannot take it for granted. It’s important to be healthy in every way whether it’s physical,mental,emotional or spiritual health.if you are healthy life is not at all difficult for you and you can achieve your goals with hard work. Whenever we talk about health we usually talk about patients,the sufferer . We never talk about the Care givers . Who looks after the patients and devoted his or her self physically ,mentally to the sufferer. It’s not an easy task to devote yourself to someone’s illness. It requires a lot of compassion,patience,understanding as well as courage . One needs to connect with the patient’s mental state and that’s a tough job. Most of the time under pressure Care givers stop taking care of themselves .Their world moves around the Patient’s needs . They forgot that they too have life and if they won’t take care of themselves they won’t be able to take care of the sufferer. Most of the time the care giver gets emotionally, physically exhausted and drained which is not a healthy sign . They too need a support system . There is nothing wrong in taking some breaks and doing something for their own relaxation. Asking for help from other family members,friends and near dear ones.Dont get into any kind of guilt while taking breaks .
Here we need to understand that the care giver of a mental illness person is more difficult because the sufferer might not have insight about his or her condition. They might not see the care giver as their well wisher. They might be aggressive and violent.So care givers have more mental emotional stress on themselves. Self safety is the key feature in such conditions. So taking a break and doing their own activities is a must to release all stress and recharge themselves. To help others you need to be in that state or condition where you can understand and find the appropriate coping strategies. Like it always said in airways in case of emergency first put the oxygen mask on your mouth and then help other co passengers. Selfcare is as important as others care.
